How it began

To open your doors in the midst of a recession is brave, but that’s exactly what cousins Ian Preston and James Baker did in 2008 when they took on a Bairstow Eves franchise in York, North Yorkshire. Despite the recession, they bucked market trends by being relentlessly determined to achieve results that made a difference to home movers.

Hey presto!

When the franchised arm of Baistow Eves was sold in 2011 to a national agency, it was time to go it alone. Preston Baker was born and in quick succession, we opened offices in York, Selby, Oakwood and Headingley in Leeds.

We’re really quite obsessed with tech, but that never overshadows our focus on having brilliant people, delivering a personal service to our customers. The latest tech simply helps to facilitate the best possible experience for sellers,  buyers, our agents and partners – always driving towards quicker, better results.

In 2023, we won Best Innovation at the Estate Agency Masters Awards for our advancement in tech solutions including AI.
