Dunnington is just six miles from York and connected by the A1079 to Hull and A166 to Bridlington. The FirstGroup bus number 10 goes to the city through the village and that is where you can find the closest train station. Leeds Bradford International Airport is just an hour away.
HISTORY
A settlement in Anglo-Saxon times, it was listed as "Donniton" in the 1086 Domesday Book. Always an agricultural area, it became the main area in England for growing chicory. It was served by the Derwent Valley Light Railway for more than a decade from 1913 as it grew slowly. Today it is used as a dormitory village for the city of York.
