Meersbrook Park takes up a large part of the area, and offers great views across Sheffield. It is home to Bishops' House and Meersbrook house. Also within the park are two bowling greens, a play area, cricket wicket, tennis courts, basketball hoops, a skateboard bowl and woodland for exploring.

There are a number of pubs dotted in and around Meersbrook. These include The Red Lion gastropub, The Crown Inn, The White Lion, Hardy Pick family pub and Cross Scythes. Restaurant options are mixed and include Turkish, Caribbean and Indian on Chesterfield Road.

There is a Costcutter and Co-operative Food in the suburb and Meersbrook is also handily placed for Heeley Retail Park which has a Brantano, Currys, Matalan, Pets at Home, Next and Boots as well as Homebase on Chesterfield Road - both areas within the district boundaries.

Meersbrook Bank Primary School, Carfield Primary School and Mundella Primary School are the local primary schools and regularly exceed national expectations. The suburb is within the catchment area for a number of well regarded secondary schools too: Newfield, All Saints', Meadowhead Academy Trust, High Storrs, King Ecgbert and Dronfield Henry Fanshawe.

Off the A61 Chesterfield Road, Meersbrook has regular public transport for the 2.5 mile trip into Sheffield city centre. Alternatively, it is around a 20 minute drive to Chesterfield and you can also easily get to the Peak District or the M1. The closest airport is Robin Hood, under an hour away in Doncaster.

Meers Brook is the name of the stream in the village and is where the name came from many centuries ago. On the boundary of the Northumbria and Mercia Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, it was still dividing Yorkshire and Derbyshire into the 1900s. Once a collection of small communities, housing began being built here around the 1870s and the House was built in 1760.

Bishops House was built in the 1500s and is one of the oldest buildings in Sheffield.
