Next to the A61 Halifax Road, Hillsborough is just 3.3 miles from Sheffield and has frequent public transport into the city centre - buses number 13/14, 20/20A, 11/12, 52, 31/31A, 61/62 and 64. It is also close to the Peak District and has East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Robin Hood airports within an hour and a half.


Hillsborough's origins don't stretch very far back. Neighbouring Owlerton had a manor in 1297 but Hillsborough House, where the suburb takes its name, wasn't built until 1779. It wasn't until Sheffield took off in the Industrial Revolution that the suburb began to grow.
