HISTORY

The Grade I listed Victorian gothic country house of Carlton Towers sits on a country estate and dates back to the 1600s. There has been a manor on these grounds since the 14th century but Carlton itself has little history. Mainly used for farming, it had a population of around 750 in the early 1870s. Today it is a dormitory village with a slowly growing population of around 2,000.
