An enticing mix of urban amenities, charming countryside and beautiful woodlands awaits in Bramhope. The village is situated just nine miles north of Leeds city centre. Bramhope’s grandiose homes, which feature multiple bedrooms, stunning views and spacious plots, earn the village the title of the priciest postcode in Leeds. Access to excellent schools and a wide variety of shopping centres add to the appeal of Bramhope.


The Golden Acre Park encompasses 130 acres of stunning gardens that encircle a large lake. The park is the perfect place to play with the children, take an afternoon stroll or have a picnic. The Breary Marsh Nature Reserve lies adjacent to the park and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest due to it being one of the most diverse examples of wet valley alder wood. Meanwhile, the nearby Holt Park Leisure Centre offers an array of sports equipment and fitness classes. The Memorial Hall has tennis courts, a bowling green and a badminton court. Considered the village hall, it hosts the farmers’ markets each month, an autumnal flower show and various performances.


Dating back to 1728, the Fox and Hounds is the area’s local pub of choice. The place offers a large beer garden, open-log fires and exceptional wines and ales. Another favourite gathering spot is the family friendly Lawnswood Arms in Adel. The Village Bakery and coffee shop make excellent sandwiches, pies and cakes. More formal dining options include diBellini's restaurant on Otley Road and the Italian restaurant, Weetwood. Other top-rated eateries include Salvos’ pizzeria, El Bareto tapas restaurant and Murgatroyds fish and chips takeaway.


Scattered throughout the village are several local shops and amenities. The Shopping Parade on Breary Lane features a beauty salon, a pharmacy and a flower and gift shop. The Tredgold Avenue shopping centre is home to a dry cleaner, a delicatessen, a butcher and a news agent. Additionally, the bi-monthly farmers’ market at Memorial Hall provides residents with an array of fresh produce and hand-made crafts. Other businesses include dentists and physicians, banks, spas and cinemas.

Bramhope enjoys quick and easy access to Leeds city centre and neighbouring areas. The closest train station is in Horsforth and it provides service to the city, Knaresborough, Harrogate and York. The city centre can also be reached by car within 20 minutes and by metro bus number 28. Additionally, the Leeds Bradford Airport is just two miles from Bramhope.


From a small farming village to one of the most sought after suburban neighbourhoods, Bramhope, like many villages in Leeds, has a rich past and vibrant present. Little is known about the area until the 13th century when monasteries’ ownership of the land converted it into a dominant farming industry. Remnants of the 17th and 18th centuries are still evident in the many homes and buildings like Weaver’s Cottage and the Puritan Chapel that showcase a mixture of architectural styles. The building of the Bramhope Tunnel in the late 1940s brought an influx of workers and families. Now, once again, Bramhope is a thriving part of Leeds that attracts residents from all over.
