Just 20 minutes to the centre and with a local primary school, is this the place for your family?

Golfers will enjoy Bawtry Golf Club in the neighbouring village and Finningley Park is a vast space that is well used by dog walkers and families. Finningley is also home to Doncaster Moto Parc, which is a famous motocross venue. The much loved Yorkshire Wildlife Park is in Branton and perfect for a family day out while the Dome, Doncaster Racecourse and the Keepmoat Stadium are close thanks to the proximity with the town centre.

The Harvey Arms is the pub in Finningley, the Mayflower Bar is a gastro pub and restaurant is on the A614, The Ship Inn is in Bawtry and the popular Eagle & Child Inn is in Auckley. The Golden Sun is a well established Chinese takeaway in the village and as you get closer to Doncaster there are a number of restaurants serving international cuisine.

There is a post office in the village that also offers a range of food, drink and produce as well as services like the Health Lottery and National Lottery. Nearby villages and suburbs offer a variety of stores but the town centre and Lakeside Village Outlet are the best place for high street names. Just six miles from Doncaster, Finningley boasts easy access to the town. As well as this, it is on the doorstep of Robin Hood Airport and has easy access to connections around the country thanks to being near the M18, M180, A1(M) and A638. The nearest train station is in Doncaster but there has been talk about reopening the one in the village.

Noted in the Domesday Book as Finig lei - meaning "a clearing in the fens" - parts of Finningley Church date back to this time. For many years it was classed as Nottinghamshire and enjoyed fertile lands that made for great wheat and rape crops each year. There was also a large number of trees, which were cut down and sold in Doncaster. In recent years it has been best known for the airport which was used by the RAF and closed in 1996 - it is now Robin Hood airport.

Finningley Village Hall is a Grade II listed building.
